My Philosophy

I approach your project as an artistic challenge with the goal of achieving results that are both practical and useful.

I believe that the outcome of a project depends on the methods, tools and materials I use. This principle is behind my preference for using old world methods, hand tools and legacy lumber whenever possible.

Before I build anything, I build an understanding about you, your tastes and your lifestyle. Meeting with you and getting to know you are important for a successful project. Developing a clear vision of the project for you and thoroughly discussing your expectations is as important as the design phase. Throughout the process, you are an active participant at all levels.

I develop comprehensive sketches, and scale models in some cases, for every project.

Once the design is agreed upon I review the project with you, including:
- Choice of materials, including recycled wood
- Design finishing specs including such items as vintage hardware and hand nailing
- Use of additional professionals, specialists or independent subcontractors.

I use solid lumber as much as possible, and plywood and MDF only when necessary. When additional design assistance is needed I will consult with an architect. My long-standing relationships with reputable and reliable plumbing and electrical subcontractors help streamline the project.

My goal for the end result of your project is a product that will age well, blend with the existing structure, and have a hand crafted feel with lasting quality.

Thanks for visiting my website. I'm happy to discuss your ideas for the projects your are considering and provide a few of my own. You can contact me by email here or call me at 952-454-4694. I look forward to hearing from you!
